Despite the unusually rainy weather hitting Baltimore this summer, the Friends of West Baltimore Squares ‘Film Friday’ series has been a total success- and it’s only just begun!
After our first movie event in May (hosted graciously inside at the Franklin Square Boys and Girls Club, following one re-schedule due to rain & more rain on the rain date!), we hopped on over the Hollins Market for the next in the ‘Film Friday’ series on Friday,
June 14, 2013. The vacant lot a couple plots down from CUPS Coffeehouse was the perfect venue for a movie night. Thanks to CUPS Coffeehouse for supplying power and for all of your hard work in cleaning up the lot. Also, thanks to Hollins Roundhouse for providing refreshments and support for the event!
As the theme of rainy summer nights continued, we rescheduled the July ‘Film Friday’ in Union Square to Friday, August 2, 2013. The first week of August was especially busy one for Union Square, as we had had a SUPER fun “Music Monday’ event earlier in the week. (Click here to read about this event). Over at the Union Square Association and the Friends of West Baltimore Squares, we were ready to keep the momentum going with the movie night.
The rain held off and we had a gorgeous Summer evening for a viewing of ‘Washington Square’, the 1997 film that had our very own Union Square as the set for the film.
This “Film Friday’ was extra special, too, as this was the very first movie night we were able to host in one of our beloved historic West Baltimore Squares!
Please save the date for this month’s movie night in Lafayette Square (Lafayette Ave & N. Arlington St) on Friday, August 30, 2013.
